Understanding the application of switching power supply on LED display


With changing application environments such as thunderstorms, extreme temperatures, pollution, fan noise, dust, humidity, salt spray corrosion, and the increasing emphasis on energy conservation and environmental protection, customers have been placing increasingly stringent requirements on the entire LED display system, including the power supply. As different environments have different requirements for the power supply, LED manufacturers are faced with the challenge of selecting the appropriate power supply.

1. Thunderstorm Climate: Thunderstorms test the EMC performance of power supplies. To meet EMC requirements, most power supply manufacturers increase the filter circuit at the input side of the power supply. By following IEC61000 or EN61000 international standards, power supplies can be tested and filters can be appropriately added to the system layout.

2. Extreme Weather: LED screens operate in extreme temperatures ranging from 40 degrees to -30 degrees, requiring power supplies with high-temperature components and efficient cooling systems. However, higher fan speeds can cause more noise and reduce the lifespan of fans. Therefore, fanless power supplies have become the preferred choice for LED screens.

3. Pollution Environment: Dust, humidity, salt spray corrosion, and other factors test the performance of LED screens. The lack of outdoor dust and salt spray considerations can lead to screen problems after 2-3 years of use. Corroded PCBs and damaged components are often discovered during inspections. Therefore, adding protective treatments to the power supply's internal components is necessary to prevent dust, humidity, and salt fog environments.

4. Environmental Protection: Energy conservation and environmental protection are of utmost importance. To improve power supply efficiency, advanced technology like synchronous rectification and soft-switching resonant technology are used. Additionally, leading components with minimal internal power consumption are used to further improve power supply efficiency.

In summary, selecting the appropriate power supply for different application environments is critical for ensuring the long-term performance and lifespan of an LED display system.
